How Can I Run(open) A File That I Dont Know What Extension It May Fall From Vb 6 Application?

I wan open Any file on click even Irrespect to its file type. Using shell function or openfile function etc. require the application path and file name. But it can,t be pre determine what kind of file it (.mp3, .jpg, .doc, .pdf, .xls etc) and in whhich folder the application(Excel, word or acrobat )installed? What then the solution?
